Interface Design
I lead concept development and UX/UI for Epicenter in 2013. Development of Epicenter involved processes like competitive analysis, patient statistics analysis, user segmentation, user personas, narrowing down minimum viable product and interface design. Epicenter includes features like Food Tracking, Medicine Tracking, Seizure Tracking, Ketone level tracking and Ketogenic Diet Recipe search.

Problem and Market
The Ketogenic Diet is an effective treatment for epilepsy as it can reduce seizure frequency upto 90%. It is not preferred to adult patients because it is very difficult to monitor and has limited food choices.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
The Ketogenic Diet treatment requires a wide range of recipes and weekly plans with a specific amount of carbs, protein and fat. It is also necessary to track nutrition values, ketone levels, seizure events and medicine to avoid any life threatening side effects of the diet. There is no one product that combines all these required features into one. This makes Ketogenic Diet treatment difficult to follow and monitor.

PATIENT STATISTICS AND USER SEGMENTATION
At any given time 1% of US population, which is approximately 3M people, has active epilepsy. To find patient segmentation, I looked at the distribution of active epilepsy patients by age and U.S. employment to population ratio by age group. I categorized patients into students, working adults, non-working adults, patient's family members(children with epilepsy) and elderly people. Then, I looked at smartphone and tablet usage by age and income to validate if designing an application can be a viable solution for the problem.
